A Rush To Prayer

By Charles Cave

Moments before this photo was taken, the streets of Namling, Tibet were quiet, with only a lonely goat to be seen. As the bells singled an afternoon call to prayer, I could feel the energy of the people even before I saw them, but soon a line of them were battling their way up the temple steps to pray to the large gold Buddah inside. The whole town seemed to be there; a mother with a baby on her back, a monk, children, and fathers. It was an astonishing display of fervour towards a faith.
